So sometimes the hurdles in life can make you feel defeated, you muster the energy to stay positive in the eyes everyone else but sometimes it just bubbles inside. These bubbles can do one of two things; they can make you rise up in the face of the adversity or they can burst you and deflate you.
To make this choice….because, despite how you feel this is your decision is yours to make, you might need a little persuasion…mine is Steve Jobs..I’m hooked, if you follow the blog you might even know that I have coined the phrase ‘macc-ing pros’ as apposed to ‘penning pros’ as an affectionate literary term. He made us fall in love with inanimate objects, forming appendage like emotional attachments to iphones, ipads and mac book. This isn’t a mistake, he was a marketing god that believed in the power of attraction, the magic of sharmanism and (why we love him so) alternative medicine. A billionaire hippy, that had some of the most inspiring words, from his lips to my ears, always manage to get me out of a bind.
Trawling the internet for his wisdom is like a cyber sanctuary for me, like an Aesop store is a physical sanctuary. These two design icons present themselves in a way that makes sense to me, you walk into a store and you understand their mission and I want this for staple. When you walk in I want you to know my goals, my aspirations and my dreams for this project. I want it to be a place that you want to be, that you are proud to make your local store, I want your children to want to come in and play and explore healthfood, I want you to know that this is a place of integrity and honesty and that I will try my hardest to help you navigate your way through a plethora of exciting wholefoods. This divulgence aside, I can’t wait to share this shop with you…I’m chewing at the bit to meet you all.
One of the great things about the store is that I can take you on some pretty cool culinary adventures, that blow some of our ‘old school’ healthfood favourites out of the water….Like the oldie but a goodie, LSA- linsseds, sunflower seeds and almonds. Here is what I like to call “Move over LSA, we’ve come to play”. You can buy it pre-made from the store or make it for yourself….it is really too easy.
MOVE OVER LSA, WE’VE COME TO PLAY RECIPE
- 1 part flax seed
- 1 part sunflower seed
- 1 part almonds
- 1 part goji berries
- 1 part brazil nuts
- 1/2 part chia seeds
- Cinnamon to taste (if 1 part = 1 handful a teaspoon of cinnamon will do)
(ALL OF THESE INGREDIENTS ARE SUPERFOODS IN THEIR OWN RIGHT!)
Pop it all into a food processor and process on high until it is a little bit of a chunky LSA…but with bigger bits in it…like this
KEEP IT REFRIGERATED
- POP IT ON YOGHURT
- INTO A SMOOTHIE
- INTO YOUR MUESLI
- IN POACHED FRUIT (AS A DECONSTRUCTED CRUMBLE)
- or ON ICE CREAM (TO APEASE THE GUILTS)
