I am a romantic with a good imagination. I can get quickly whisked away to bylines and back stories about nearly everything I see.
When I see people’s faces, I imagine where they were born? how their mother used to speak to them? where they’ve traveled? what they had for lunch? how much water they drink? have they been hugged today? are they in love? are they kind? how did they get those lines?: the happy ones, the sad ones and the grumpy ones.
Right now I’m on the train, this is not normally regarded as a place of natural beauty but today, it’s everywhere. I find myself staring at people, almost to the point of embarrassing myself. There are very striking faces everywhere. The beauty is emanating from their radiance and vitality, it’s positively palpable.
When you have been in wholistic health for as long as I have, you can see in someone’s face their good habits and their naughty habits.
The glow of vitality is not found in a bottle, not in a tube, not in a lotion, a potion or a tablet. It doesn’t come from a good diet alone or beauty regimes. This glow comes from a place of joy, kindness and mindfulness. I am lucky enough to have some of these glowing people in my life, they are very precious and fortunately not too rare (lucky for us). They see beauty, they talk beautiful words, they smile beautifully and they wish beauty for you, genuinely. They love themselves and the people around them, they treat their bodies with kindness and eat consciously- this is beauty.
When I think of these people, my heart skips a beat and I want to be more like them….and I remind myself: you are what you eat, what you say, what you see, what you hear and what you believe and that guides me back.
I hope you know who you are. x
